BNDES releases R$ 22.6 billion in credit for companies impacted by tariffs and war
The Brazilian National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) has opened applications for the third phase of the 'Plano Brasil Soberano', providing R$ 22.6 billion in credit to support companies impacted by international instability. The funding consists of R$ 13.5 billion from the National Treasury and R$ 9.1 billion from BNDES.
The credit lines target three priority groups: exporters and suppliers affected by increased United States trade tariffs, companies exporting to the Persian Gulf region (including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, and Iraq) facing Middle East conflict disruptions, and strategic industrial sectors such as automotive, textile, chemical, pharmaceutical, and critical minerals.
To qualify for tariff-related relief, companies must demonstrate that at least 1% of their revenue was dependent on trade with the affected regions. The funds can be used for working capital, purchasing machinery and equipment, or financing business expansion projects. Interest rates range from 4.3% to 17.5% per year, depending on the company's size and the intended use of the funds.
