BNG demands new public elderly care residence in Vigo

The Bloque Nacionalista Galego (BNG) is demanding that the Xunta de Galicia address the shortage of elderly care facilities in Vigo. Through an amendment to a municipal motion, the BNG is calling for the regional government to commit funds in the 2027 budget to construct at least one entirely public nursing home.

In addition to a new facility, the BNG is requesting an increase in public day-care center spots and the creation of intermediate resources, such as assisted living and community housing. The party also criticized the current model of shared residential centers when they mix different levels of care needs, labeling the lack of dedicated public spaces as institutional abandonment.
