Prabowo reports surging profits for Indonesian state-owned enterprises
President Prabowo Subianto reported significant improvements in the performance of Indonesian state-owned enterprises (BUMN) during his annual address. A key highlight was PT Timah Tbk, which saw its net profit surge to Rp2.71 trillion in the first half of 2026, an 804.6 percent increase compared to the previous year. This turnaround is attributed to government efforts to tighten governance and the closure of approximately 1,000 illegal tin mines in Bangka Belitung.
Other state companies also showed strong growth under the management of the Danantara investment agency. Reported profit increases include Pupuk Indonesia (253 percent), Semen Indonesia (408.9 percent), Pertamina (80 percent), and Pegadaian (84.4 percent). Additionally, BNI reported strong growth with credit distribution reaching Rp968.5 trillion.
Regarding commodity management, the new state export entity, Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia (DSI), has monitored over 6,500 transactions worth $14 billion since June. The government plans to expand DSI's monitoring to 50 ports and increase its oversight to include all strategic commodities to prevent revenue loss from under-invoicing.
