BNP Paribas Fortis refunds couple after disputed transaction
A couple in Grez-Doiceau successfully secured a refund from BNP Paribas Fortis after contesting an unauthorized transaction of 30.60 euros. The charge appeared to be for a purchase at INNO on a Sunday evening, a time when the retailer is typically closed.
The account holders, Angelo and Lucile, maintained that the physical bank card had never left their possession and that they were at home during the time of the transaction. Although the bank initially refused to reimburse the amount, claiming the transaction was made with a PIN, the couple filed a police report and contacted the Financial Services Ombudsman. BNP Paribas Fortis eventually issued the refund as a commercial gesture, though the bank declined to comment on the specific details of the case.
