BNP Paribas partners with Google Cloud for AI integration

BNP Paribas and Google Cloud have entered into a five-year strategic partnership to expand the bank's access to advanced artificial intelligence infrastructure and capabilities. The agreement focuses on utilizing Google Cloud's infrastructure, including Gemini Enterprise and Gemini models, to support the bank's transition toward broader adoption of agentic AI.

The collaboration aims to integrate AI agents into specific business sectors, such as corporate lending and Corporate & Institutional Banking. This initiative is designed to enhance operational optimization, risk assessment, and service efficiency.

BNP Paribas will maintain a multi-cloud and multi-model approach, combining various cloud environments with its own proprietary infrastructure. According to Marc Camus, Group Chief Information Officer at BNP Paribas, this strategy provides the flexibility to select the most appropriate models and infrastructure for specific business needs while adhering to established security and data governance frameworks.
