Indonesia manages widespread natural disasters and recovery efforts

Indonesia is managing multiple natural disaster responses across various regions. In Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT), the death toll from recent earthquake activity has reached 136 people, with over 102,000 homes damaged. Verification of structural damage is 70% complete to facilitate repair aid.

In Sumatra, the Ministry of Public Works has allocated Rp1.156 trillion for 2027 to restore strategic infrastructure in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, focusing on health, religious, and educational facilities. Meanwhile, flooding in Deliserdang, North Sumatra, has affected 733 people.

Other ongoing issues include drought and forest fires in South Sulawesi, and allegations of intentional land burning in Jambi, where two farmers were reportedly paid Rp500,000 to clear land. Additionally, the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) is conducting tsunami preparedness assessments along the Banten coast and working to strengthen disaster protection for vulnerable groups, including people with disabilities, women, and the elderly.
