Boa Vista to host 5th Macuxi Lutas Casadas jiu-jitsu competition

The 5th edition of the Macuxi Lutas Casadas jiu-jitsu competition is scheduled to take place on September 20 in Boa Vista, Roraima. Held at the Alamir Casari Gymnasium (Romerinho) within the Roberto Marinho Olympic Village, the event is expected to feature 180 athletes participating in 90 individual matches.

Nine local teams will compete, including Roraima Top Team, Team Macuxi Roraima, Team Sagat, Águia Norte Team, Zenith, Gracie Barra, Alpha Jiu-Jitsu, CT Mucajá, and Vavá Team. Unlike traditional tournament brackets, this event uses a 'lutas casadas' format, where matchups are pre-determined by organizers based on weight, category, rank, and technical level.

Organizer and black belt Alexandre Souza, known as Dedé, stated that frequent local competitions are essential for Roraima athletes to maintain their training rhythm and prepare for national tournaments. The event aims to expand the local competition calendar, reducing the need for costly travel to other Brazilian states. Individual performances will contribute to a cumulative score to determine the winning team, with prizes including medals and belts.
