Saudi Board of Grievances adopts AI governance framework

The Saudi Board of Grievances has approved a new governance framework for the use of artificial intelligence systems. This framework aims to regulate AI applications within the organization’s judicial and administrative operations, as well as its digital platforms, to ensure responsible use, data protection, and compliance with national policies.

Dr. Ali bin Ahmed Al-Ahidab, President of the Board of Grievances and the Administrative Judiciary Council, announced the move during the fourth UNESCO Global Forum on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence in Riyadh. The initiative is part of the Board’s 2026 AI Year efforts and its 2030 strategic goals to integrate emerging technologies into the administrative judiciary.

In conjunction with World Law Day, the Board also held a workshop titled ‘Artificial Intelligence and Legal Work: Between Opportunities and Controls.’ This event was conducted under a memorandum of understanding with Case Western Reserve University in the United States. The workshop featured academic experts discussing AI in legal practice and judicial ethics in digital environments to enhance the professional capabilities of the Board’s staff.
