Boat fire on Lake Constance near Mainau Island

A boat caught fire in the engine compartment on Lake Constance near Mainau Island on Sunday morning. The crew managed to partially extinguish the fire with a fire extinguisher before emergency services arrived.

Upon arrival, the Constance fire department, the Überlingen fire department's oil emergency unit, and the Constance district drone group responded to the scene. The vessel was smoking approximately 100 meters from Mainau Island. Three people on board were rescued and transferred to emergency services; all three were transported to a hospital for medical care.

Firefighters performed secondary extinguishing operations in the engine room and disconnected the boat's battery. The damaged vessel was subsequently towed to Uhldingen by the Überlingen fire department's firefighting boat. The operation concluded after approximately one hour.
