Boat Sinks Near Chalkidiki, All Five Passengers Reach Shore Safely
A motorized boat carrying five Romanian tourists capsized in the sea off Agios Nikolaos Siveri, near the town of Kassandreia in Chalkidiki, Greece, on Saturday midday. The passengers quickly swam to the nearby shore and reached safety without any injuries.
The incident was reported immediately to the New Mudania Coast Guard, which dispatched officers in a patrol vehicle to the scene. Authorities confirmed that none of the passengers required medical treatment. The sunken vessel was later recovered and brought ashore under the supervision of its owner. A pre‑investigation is being carried out by the 2nd Naval Department of New Mudania of the Central Coast Guard of Thessaloniki to determine the cause of the sinking. No marine pollution was detected in the area.
