Bob Hippy, Indonesian football legend and former PSSI official, dies

Indonesian football legend Bob Hippy passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Pondok Indah Hospital in Jakarta at the age of 82.

Hippy was a prominent figure in Indonesian football, both as a player and an administrator. During his playing career in the 1960s, he represented the Indonesian national team and Persija Jakarta. He was notably a top scorer for Indonesia during the 1961 U-19 Asian Cup in Bangkok.

Following his retirement from playing, Hippy transitioned into football administration. He served as a member of the PSSI Executive Committee (Exco) from 2011 to 2015, holding several key positions including Chairman of the Football Committee, Chairman of the Youth Football Development Committee, and Vice Chairman of the Player Status Committee. He was also recognized for coordinating the national team during periods of organizational conflict.
