Bob Iger honored as Disney Legend at D23 ceremony

Former Disney CEO Bob Iger was honored as a Disney Legend during the 2026 D23 fan event held at the Honda Center in Anaheim. Iger, 75, is the first executive to receive this specific distinction, joining a 2026 class of honorees that includes Anne Hathaway, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Dwayne Johnson, and Chris Berman.

During the star-studded ceremony, industry figures such as Robert Downey Jr., Harrison Ford, and Ellen Pompeo offered tributes. Downey Jr. praised Iger’s leadership, stating, “Fortune favors the brave,” and noting his ability to make bold decisions in the face of risk. Current Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro also spoke, highlighting Iger’s integrity and optimism.

In addition to the Legend award, Iger received a personalized window on Main Street, U.S.A. at Disneyland, a rare honor commemorating significant contributors to the company’s legacy. The ceremony coincided with news of Iger’s recent acquisition of an 83% stake in the Los Angeles Lakers alongside Josh Kushner.

Other honorees at the event included the Jonas Brothers, Jerry Bruckheimer, and Alan Tudyk. The ceremony served as a major celebration of Iger’s tenure, which saw significant studio acquisitions and the expansion of Disney’s streaming capabilities.
