Bob Mackie death certificate reveals new details

New details from the death certificate of legendary fashion designer Bob Mackie have revealed that his immediate cause of death was a subarachnoid hemorrhage and blunt head trauma. While his representatives had previously stated he died of pneumonia, the records indicate that Mackie suffered a fall on September 11 while staying at the home of his longtime design director, Joseph McFate.

The 87-year-old designer passed away three days later, on September 14, at the Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs. A representative clarified that while the head injury was the immediate cause, Mackie was also suffering from pneumonia both before and after his hospitalization.

Following his death, Mackie was cremated on September 17, and his remains were scattered at sea off the coast of San Diego County, California. High-profile collaborators, including Cher and Carol Burnett, have publicly mourned the loss of the designer, who was renowned for his iconic work dressing major entertainment figures.
