Bob Saget landed Full House role after live TV slip-up

Full House creator Jeff Franklin has revealed that Bob Saget landed the role of patriarch Danny Tanner due to an ironic series of events involving a live television mishap.

Saget was Franklin’s first choice for the character, but he was initially unavailable because he was under contract as a roving reporter for CBS’s ‘The Morning Program’. Because of this contract, Franklin originally cast actor John Posey for the pilot episode.

However, Saget lost his position at CBS after using the word ‘anus’ during a live broadcast. This sudden availability allowed Franklin to recast the role with Saget after ABC picked up the series, a move Franklin noted changed both of their lives.
