Bobadela Roman Ruins Interpretive Center reaches 50,000 visitors

The Bobadela Roman Ruins Interpretive Center has reached a milestone of 50,000 visitors since its reopening in April 2018. The Municipality of Oliveira do Hospital noted this achievement as a sign of the center's consolidation as a key cultural facility for promoting the historical and archaeological heritage of the municipality.

The center serves as a gateway to understanding the archaeological complex of the ancient Roman city of Bobadela, known in Roman times as ‘Splendidissima Civitas’. Key historical remains in the area include the Forum, the Amphitheater, and the Roman Arch, which is classified as a National Monument.

Through various expository methods, including interactive multimedia, documentary films, and archaeological pieces from excavations, the center aims to educate different audiences on the legacy of Romanization in the Coimbra Region and throughout Portugal.
