Boban Utkovski resigns as director of Shutka prison

Boban Utkovski, the director of the Skopje-Shutka prison in Shuto Orizare, has submitted his resignation to the government. Utkovski cited personal reasons for his departure, which is expected to be reviewed during an upcoming government meeting.

The resignation follows public attention regarding Utkovski’s previous statements about prison security. He had previously defended the safety standards at the facility following concerns raised by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Security Agency regarding the security of former Deputy Prime Minister Artan Grubi.

Aleksandar Pandov, Director of the Sanctions Enforcement Directorate, noted that he had not been in contact with Utkovski in recent months, despite having recommended his appointment. The government has stated that the public will be informed regarding the appointment of a new director in due course.
