Bobby Bones receives Mirrorball trophy after returning it to ABC

Bobby Bones has received his Mirrorball trophy in the mail after previously returning it to ABC. The Season 27 winner had sent the award back following "hurtful" comments made by former Dancing With the Stars host Tom Bergeron, who had described Bones' victory as "shocking."

Bones explained that while he tried not to take criticism personally, the comments from Bergeron—someone he respects—cut deep. The tension between the two has since been addressed, with Bergeron expressing regret during a conversation on The BobbyCast podcast, stating, "I felt terrible... that the way I phrased my honest surprise at your win... I think the question to me was, 'What's the most shocking elimination that you remember?'"

Upon the trophy's return, Bones shared a photo of the award accompanied by a card that read, “Run it back?” with the number 35, hinting at a potential future with the program, though no official return to the series has been confirmed.
