Bobby Hauck departs Illinois defensive coordinator role

Bobby Hauck has departed from his role as defensive coordinator for the Illinois Fighting Illini after only four games. According to reporter Jeremy Werner, Hauck requested a meeting on a Sunday morning to discuss his exit, stating that his players deserved better performance than what was being delivered.

Head coach Bret Bielema reportedly did not intend to part ways with Hauck but acknowledged that the defensive unit struggled with identity, roster maximization, and communication. The decision follows a series of defensive struggles, including allowing over 200 rushing yards to UAB and a recent loss to Ohio State.
