Bobby Singleton elected Alabama Democratic Party chairman

Bobby Singleton, the Alabama Senate minority leader, has been elected chairman of the Alabama Democratic Party. In a decisive vote held during an organizational meeting in Montgomery, Singleton secured 72.7% of the vote with 165 votes, defeating incumbent Randy Kelley, who received 27.3% (62 votes).

The election concludes Kelley's four-year tenure. Singleton, who has represented Senate District 24 since 2005, stated his decision to run was driven by frustration regarding the lack of party support for Democratic elected officials and candidates compared to the Republican Party.

Singleton aims to improve party organization, fundraising, and candidate support. He announced plans to conduct listening tours across all 67 Alabama counties to reform party operations. Following the vote, House Minority Leader Anthony Daniels called for party unity.
