Boboshevo restaurant closed after 13 people fall ill

The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) has closed a restaurant in Boboshevo following a suspected food poisoning incident. Thirteen people reported illness, including two children who required hospitalization, while seven others are receiving treatment at home.

The symptoms, which included vomiting and general malaise, occurred after guests at a local funeral consumed food prepared at the establishment. Approximately 30 people attended the event where meatballs and potato salad were served.

A joint inspection by the BFSA, the Kyustendil Regional Health Inspection, and local police revealed unsatisfactory hygienic conditions and food items of unknown origin stored in refrigerators. Authorities have collected samples of both the raw ingredients and the prepared dishes for laboratory testing to determine the exact cause of the illness.
