Boca Juniors defeats Lanús 1-0 with stoppage-time winner
Boca Juniors secured a dramatic 1-0 victory against Lanús in the seventh round of the 2026 Torneo Clausura at La Bombonera. The decisive goal was scored by midfielder Tomás Belmonte in the third minute of stoppage time, following a precise pass from Santiago Ascacíbar.
Despite the win, Lanús dominated large portions of the match, hitting the woodwork through Felipe Peña Biafore in the first half and creating several other dangerous opportunities. Boca struggled to find rhythm until the second half, when manager Rodolfo Arruabarrena introduced Leandro Paredes, Sebastián Villa, and Enner Valencia to revitalize the attack.
The victory moves Boca to eighth place in Group A with 10 points and places them third in the annual table, keeping them within striking distance of the leaders for Copa Libertadores qualification. Looking ahead, the club faces a demanding September, including a Copa Argentina match against Vélez and a Copa Sudamericana series against San Pablo.
