Boca del Río gas station explosion injures two

A 20‑kilogram LPG cylinder exploded at a gas station on Avenida Ejército Mexicano, corner Donato Casas, in Boca del Río, Veracruz, Sunday at about 1:30 p.m. The blast injured two men: 55‑year‑old customer Félix and 47‑year‑old employee Martín. Both were treated by paramedics and taken to the Hospital of Boca del Río, with Félix listed in a reserved condition.

Emergency crews from the local fire department responded, and the establishment was closed for investigation. Authorities noted the cylinder was blue and showed visible deterioration, prompting a review of compliance with Mexico’s regulations on periodic inspection of LPG containers.

The incident highlights safety concerns over aging gas cylinders and the need for stricter enforcement of handling standards.
