Boca del Río Mayor Expands Anti‑Rodada Security to Over 120 Officers
Mayor Mari José Gamboa announced that the weekly anti‑rodada operations in Boca del Río have been reinforced, now deploying more than 120 security personnel, primarily on Fridays. The increase follows a series of violent incidents in which groups of motorcyclists used fire extinguishers against pedestrians, threatened motorists, entered shops and consumed alcohol in public spaces. Gamboa described the latest deployment as a “spectacular” success that deters would‑be offenders, stating, “Who comes to Boca del Río behaving like a criminal will be treated as a criminal.” The operation coincides with the commencement of construction at the municipality’s World Trade Center project.
