Boca del Río prepares for Independence Day celebrations

Boca del Río authorities are preparing for the 216th anniversary of Mexico's Independence Day celebrations. Mayor Maryjose Gamboa Torales announced that the festivities will center on the traditional 'Grito de Independencia' ceremony at the municipal Plaza Cívica.

The event, scheduled for September 15 at approximately 10:00 PM, will feature a free program for families including a folk ballet, mariachi music, and traditional food such as tacos al pastor and aguas frescas. The mayor noted the significance of this being the first time a woman has led the ceremony as municipal president.

Unlike other regions, Boca del Río will not host a civic-military parade on September 16. The mayor stated that local forces and military bodies will instead participate in the parades held in Veracruz and Xalapa, noting that it would be redundant to hold a local parade alongside the major events led by the President of Mexico in Mexico City and the Governor of Veracruz in Xalapa.
