Boca Juniors and Club Cipolletti terminate contracts with star forwards
Club Cipolletti announced the separation of its leading striker Federico Acevedo after the 22‑year‑old declined the club’s renewal offer, opting to become a free player when his contract expires on 31 December. The club said the decision was taken to protect its financial interests and noted that Acevedo had been the top scorer in the Federal A with six goals.
Boca Juniors president Juan Román Riquelme expressed regret over the departure of Edinson Cavani, whose contract was rescinded after a season hampered by injuries and limited playing time. Riquelme said, “It’s a shame we couldn’t have him with a few years less, with fewer injuries… It was a pride to have him here.” Cavani is now looking for a new club to continue his career.
