Boca Juniors advanced to this stage after defeating Sarmiento de Junín 2-0, following an earlier 2-0 win against Gimnasia de Chivilcoy. Vélez Sarsfield reached the round of 16 after a 4-1 victory over Deportivo Armenio and a 2-0 win against Gimnasia y Tiro de Salta.

The winner of this knockout match will advance to the quarter-finals to face the victor of the match between Racing Club and Belgrano de Córdoba.
