Boca Juniors coach Arruabarrena outlines squad plans and Paredes World Cup status

Coach Rodolfo Arruabarrena said that captain Leandro Paredes is unlikely to join Boca Juniors for the upcoming pre‑season because of his involvement with Argentina at the 2026 World Cup. He explained that Paredes could return only a few days before Boca’s Copa Argentina match, and that each day the player spends in the United States brings FIFA revenue to the club.

Arruabarrena also used his first press conference after returning to the club to detail his vision for rebuilding the team. He stressed the need to create a squad that the Boca fan base can identify with, highlighted the challenges in the transfer market, and promised to work intensively to lift the team both psychologically and football‑wise. The coach reiterated the goal of winning the championship and called for unity among all supporters, regardless of club politics.
