Boca Juniors fails to sign Galarza amid Talleres legal dispute

Boca Juniors failed to secure the transfer of midfielder Matías Galarza from Talleres de Córdoba as the transfer window closed. Despite an agreement in principle with the 24-year-old player, negotiations between the two clubs collapsed. Boca had offered $4 million for 60% of Galarza's rights, but Talleres rejected the proposal, insisting on the settlement of a long-standing debt.

A court ruling has ordered Talleres to pay Boca Juniors $2.5 million plus interest regarding a dispute over former player Cristian Pavón. The conflict originated in 2018 when Boca provided an advance payment to Talleres based on a potential future transfer that never materialized. The National Chamber of Civil Appeals confirmed that Talleres must return the full amount, adjusted to current exchange rates, rather than the lower value previously proposed by the Córdoba club.

Following the failed Galarza deal, Boca coach Rodolfo Arruabarrena is looking for alternative reinforcements. Meanwhile, Arruabarrena expressed high ambitions for the team after securing a spot in the Copa Sudamericana semifinals, stating, “We need to win a championship.”
