Boca Juniors fails to secure transfer of Matías Galarza
Negotiations between Boca Juniors and Talleres de Córdoba for midfielder Matías Galarza have collapsed, preventing the player from joining the Buenos Aires club during the current transfer window.
Despite an agreement in principle with the 24-year-old player, the clubs could not reach a financial settlement. Boca Juniors reportedly offered $4 million for an 80% stake in the player, but Talleres rejected the proposal. A primary sticking point was Talleres' demand for the settlement of a $2.5 million debt related to the previous transfer of Cristian Pavón. Additionally, complexities regarding the 40% economic rights held by the Belgian club Genk hindered progress.
Boca Juniors had been granted a special extension to register new players due to a severe injury to youth player Tomás Aranda. Following the failed attempt to secure Galarza, coach Rodolfo Arruabarrena is reportedly considering alternatives, including the potential return of Jabes Saralegui from his loan at Tigre.
