Boca Juniors signs Sebastián Villa and Álvaro Montero
Boca Juniors announced the acquisition of two Colombian players: striker Sebastián Villa from Independiente Rivadavia and goalkeeper Álvaro Montero from Vélez Sarsfield. Both athletes signed contracts on Friday and will join the first‑team squad under coach Rodolfo Arruabarrena.
Villa, aged 27, played 171 matches for Independiente Rivadavia between 2018 and 2023, scoring 29 goals and providing 31 assists, and was part of the side that won the 2023 Copa Argentina. Montero, 31, appeared in 19 games for Vélez Sarsfield last season, conceding 14 goals with a 0.73 goals‑against average.
The signings come after Boca’s 2‑0 victory over Sarmiento in the Copa Argentina round of 16. The new arrivals could be available for the upcoming Copa Sudamericana playoff first leg against O’Higgins of Chile, scheduled for Thursday, 23 July, in Buenos Aires.
