Boca Juniors officials exchange provocations ahead of Superclásico

Following Boca Juniors' 1-0 victory over Independiente in Avellaneda, club president Juan Román Riquelme and former football council member Raúl Cascini made several provocative remarks during a live broadcast.

Riquelme joined a phone conversation with journalist Flavio Azzaro without realizing the program was on the air. During the call, he made a joke regarding Sebastián Villa, noting that the club was aware Villa was not starting in the recent match.

Cascini also used the platform to target River Plate ahead of the upcoming Superclásico. He stated he would join the program on Sunday “after beating Ponzio,” referring to River Plate coach Leonardo Ponzio. Cascini further criticized Ponzio’s transition from player to coach, questioning the media's reaction to his current role compared to previous criticisms faced during his own tenure on Boca's football council.
