Bocas de Satinga fire destroys over 20 homes

A major fire in the La Isla neighborhood of Bocas de Satinga, located in the Olaya Herrera municipality, destroyed more than 20 homes and affected an additional 22 structures. The blaze lasted approximately two hours before being contained.

Several individuals, including two women, were transported to the Bocas de Satinga health post due to respiratory issues caused by smoke inhalation. Preliminary reports suggest a short circuit may have caused the fire, though authorities are still conducting evaluations to confirm the exact cause.

Gabriel Ocaña, the Director of Disaster Risk Management for Nariño, stated that coordination with local authorities was activated to manage the emergency. Officials are currently conducting a census to determine the total number of affected families and homes.
