Bocchi the Rock! prequel movie announced for 2027

CloverWorks has announced a new anime film titled “Eiga Bocchi the Rock! Hoshi no Ashiato” (Bocchi the Rock! the Movie: Footprints of the Stars), scheduled for release in 2027. The film serves as a prequel to the original series, focusing on the relationship between Nijika Ijichi and her older sister, Seika.

The movie adapts the special chapter “Hoshi ni Tamukeru Ai no Hana” from the fifth volume of Aki Hamaji’s manga. The story explores the bond between the two sisters prior to the events of the first season, centering on Nijika’s musical ambitions and Seika’s role as the manager of the live house, Starry.

Shin Wakabayashi will direct the film, with Erika Yoshida returning as the screenwriter. Yukiko Horiguchi will handle character designs. This announcement follows the previously confirmed production of a second television season, which is also currently in development.
