Bochnia authorities monitor and repair Chodenice‑Damienice suspension bridge

Local officials in Bochnia have highlighted the deteriorating condition of the wooden suspension bridge over the Raba River that connects the villages of Chodenice and Damienice. Councilor Stanisław Cefal first raised concerns in August 2025, urging the city and gmina to organise a joint inspection, warning that the bridge “threatens the safety of travelers.” The municipal office responded that routine inspections are carried out, recent repairs were completed in June 2025 to fill gaps in the decking, and additional work is scheduled for the coming week to replace further damaged planks.

The city reiterated usage limits – a maximum of 20 people at a time, a ban on running, and prohibition of motor vehicles – and asked the public to report any damage promptly. Councilor Marek Rudnik has also called for a broader modernization, noting that the cost of a full renovation exceeds the current budget and would need to be treated as an investment project.
