Bochnia grants posthumous honorary citizenship to Gen. Jerzy Kazimierz Dobrodzicki

The Bochnia City Council has posthumously awarded Brigadier General Jerzy Kazimierz Dobrodzicki the title of ‘Honorary Citizen of the Royal-Mining City of Bochnia’. The resolution was passed by acclamation during a session attended by soldiers from the 21st Logistics Battalion in Rzeszów, a unit that bears the general's name.

Born in 1884, Dobrodzicki played a significant role in the early stages of Polish independence. In the autumn of 1918, he arrived in Bochnia, where he participated in the disarmament of Austrian troops. He subsequently served as the first commander of the Bochnia garrison and organized units that formed the 2nd Podhale Rifles Regiment.

Mayor Magdalena Łacna stated that the title serves as an expression of recognition and gratitude for the general's merits to the city. Dobrodzicki, who was promoted to brigadier general in 1929, passed away in Warsaw in 1934.
