Bochum expands carsharing network with new Springerplatz station
The city of Bochum is expanding its carsharing infrastructure to promote the mobility transition and climate protection. A new station has been opened at Springerplatz in collaboration with the operator stadtmobil Rhein-Ruhr GmbH.
This addition marks the eighth new station established in the city this year. The fleet managed by stadtmobil Rhein-Ruhr has grown to 51 vehicles across 24 stations in Bochum. The city intends to continue issuing tenders for new stations in public spaces annually, targeting both major public transport hubs and residential areas. The expansion has already reached districts such as Riemke, Langendreer, Weitmar, and Wattenscheid, with a long-term goal of having at least one station in every district.
