Bochum explosion investigation continues with body autopsy
Authorities in Bochum, Germany, are conducting an autopsy on a body found near a warehouse that exploded two days ago. Due to the possibility that the deceased is contaminated with hazardous substances, forensic pathologists are performing the procedure wearing protective suits under maximum security precautions.
The explosion occurred in a warehouse containing containers with potentially dangerous chemicals. While police have not confirmed or denied suspicions that the site was a drug laboratory, specialized units from the fire department and the State Criminal Police Office were deployed to the scene.
Investigators have taken samples from the explosion site and expect results next week. A homicide commission was established on Wednesday as part of the ongoing investigation to determine if the unidentified man's death is linked to the explosion.
