Bocoyna security forces reinforce operations after armed attack

State security forces have launched an intensified security operation in the San Juanito section of Bocoyna following a violent confrontation involving armed civilians. On Saturday night, Rural Police from the Secretaría de Seguridad Pública del Estado (SSPE) arrived to support the Agencia Estatal de Investigación after reports of aggression by armed individuals.

Upon arrival, officers discovered several vehicles with gunshot wounds and a vehicle bearing California license plates containing a deceased man and an AR-15 rifle. During tactical patrols, police identified a gray RAM truck linked to the incident. As officers approached the vehicle, they were fired upon by a group of armed civilians traveling in at least six vehicles. The officers repelled the attack, and the suspects fled the scene. No police officers were injured.

Authorities seized a 2026 RAM Big Horn, four magazines, eight packages of suspected marijuana, three ballistic vests, and tactical equipment. The items have been placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry. In response, Gilberto Loya of the SSPE announced that security in the region will be reinforced with increased ground patrols and the use of both manned and unmanned aircraft to locate those responsible.
