Bodegraven-Reeuwijk faces up to €1.9 million municipal financial risk

Four council factions in Bodegraven‑Reeuwijk – Local Liberal Bodegraven‑Reeuwijk (LLBR), PRO, D66 and ChristenUnie – have submitted joint written questions to the municipal college after Council Information Letter 44 disclosed a potential financial exposure of €1.5 million to €1.9 million. The parties said they were shocked by both the size of the risk and the college’s claim that the council should have been informed earlier. Their questions seek to establish when the first warning signs appeared, when officials and the college became aware, how the risk evolved, what choices were made along the way, and what financial calculations support the reported figures. They also ask how the announced measures might affect the delivery of municipal services and previously approved council plans, demanding full transparency so the council can fulfil its oversight role.
