Bodies of men discovered in separate Spanish coastal incidents
Authorities in Spain have recovered the bodies of two men in separate maritime incidents.
In Ceuta, the Guardia Civil located the body of a man in local waters. Following standard protocol, the body was transferred to the Maritime Service base for an autopsy. Forensic personnel and judicial police have been activated to attempt identification through DNA testing, a process used to help locate the deceased's relatives. This discovery occurs amid a period of increased migration attempts via swimming or small vessels in the region.
In Arenys de Mar, Catalonia, the Guardia Civil and Mossos d'Esquadra recovered a man's body from the waters of the local port. The body was found floating near the docks of the nautical club. Preliminary investigations suggest the death may not be related to recent severe weather that has caused fatalities in other parts of Catalonia. Investigators are considering the possibility that the deceased, described as a man of Maghrebi origin, may have been a person living clandestinely on disused vessels or scavenging for fish remains.
