Bodmin care home conversion proposal receives positive response from Cornwall Council

Cornwall Council has expressed support for a proposal to convert the former Belmont House Nursing Home in Bodmin into specialized social housing. The project, submitted by Alpus and Lime Developments, aims to repurpose the vacant facility on Love Lane to address a shortage of adapted residential options for vulnerable and disabled individuals.

The development plan includes 13 self-contained units: eight flats located within the existing building and five bungalows situated on the surrounding site. The council noted that the significant need for specialist provision in Bodmin and the wider Cornwall area provides ‘substantial weight in the planning balance in favour of the development’. Developers have been advised to engage with the local community and neighboring properties as they move forward.
