Turkey weather forecast: widespread rain and fog expected

The General Directorate of Meteorology has issued forecasts indicating significant weather changes across Turkey. While much of the country will experience partly cloudy skies over the weekend, a widespread system of rain and thunderstorms is expected to intensify starting Tuesday, October 27.

Key regional forecasts include:

• Black Sea and Eastern Anatolia: Expect frequent rain and thunderstorms, particularly in the western and central Black Sea regions and northern parts of Erzurum, Kars, and Ardahan. • Marmara and Central Anatolia: Morning and night hours will likely see fog and haze, which may reduce visibility for drivers. Istanbul is expected to see heavy rain and potential storms between 18:00 and 24:00 on Friday. • Aegean and Mediterranean: While some coastal areas like Didim continue to experience warm, summer-like conditions, other parts of the Aegean and Mediterranean are bracing for thunderstorms and temperature drops. • Specific Local Alerts: Heavy rainfall is forecasted for Çanakkale, particularly in Biga, Çan, and Yenice. Aydın and Samsun are also expected to experience multi-day rain cycles starting early in the week.

Temperatures are generally expected to remain near seasonal norms, though significant drops are anticipated in areas following heavy precipitation, such as Aydın.
