Bodrum officials hold meeting on school canteen food safety

The Muğla Kantin İşletmecileri Esnaf Derneği organized a School Canteen Cooperation Meeting in the Bodrum district of Muğla to promote student access to healthy and reliable food. Hosted by the Bodrum District Directorate of National Education, the meeting brought together representatives from the District Directorate of National Education, District Health Directorate, Bodrum Chamber of Commerce, and various school-parent associations.

Participants discussed the role of school canteens within the educational environment, focusing on responsibilities, inspections, working conditions, and food safety. Muammer Bektaş, the Bodrum District Director of Food, Agriculture, and Livestock, issued warnings to canteen operators regarding hygiene and food security.

Bodrum District Director of National Education Özcan Kuşçu emphasized that canteens are essential stakeholders in the education process, noting that there are currently 49 canteen businesses serving thousands of students in the district daily.
