Bodrum tourism officials dispute empty hotel and high price claims

Tourism representatives in Bodrum are addressing public perceptions regarding hotel occupancy and pricing in the region. Mahmut Kocadon, President of the Bodrum Chamber of Commerce, stated that hotels are not empty, noting that occupancy rates are approaching 95 percent for August.

Kocadon explained that a decline in occupancy during May and June was primarily due to late school closures and university examinations, which delayed the start of domestic tourism. However, a significant surge in activity has been observed since July 10.

Regarding the perception that Bodrum is excessively expensive, Kocadon emphasized that the district offers options for various budgets. He noted that while some luxury establishments charge higher prices, more economical options remain available. He further clarified that members of the Bodrum Chamber of Commerce are required to adhere to a specific price tariff, and no complaints regarding sales exceeding these established rates have been received.
