Bodrum tourism sees high occupancy and massive investment growth

The tourism sector in Bodrum, Muğla, is experiencing high activity, with hotel occupancy rates reaching approximately 90 percent during the summer season. Data from the Bodrum Hotel Association (BODER) indicates that between January and July, approximately 549,500 foreign tourists visited the district via air and sea. While there has been a slight decrease of 6-7 percent in foreign visitor numbers compared to the previous year, growth in the domestic market has helped balance the figures.

Investment in the region is also surging. Research by Turizm Databank shows that hotel investment and renovation licenses in Bodrum increased by 296 percent, significantly outpacing the 41 percent increase seen across Turkey. Other regions showing investment growth include İzmir, Çanakkale, and Kırklareli.

Looking toward the future, Turizm Databank predicts that if current policies remain, Turkey could see 63-65 million foreign visitors by 2028. However, adopting an innovative tourism model could push those numbers to 70-80 million and increase tourism revenues to between 80 and 100 billion dollars. In the short term, hotel prices in Bodrum are expected to drop by approximately 20 percent in September as the high season concludes.
