Body discovered in Clarkefield amid Melbourne shooting investigation

Victorian Police have discovered a body on Havelock Road in Clarkefield, northwest of Melbourne, during an investigation into a shooting that occurred on August 19. The remains, which were found covered in grass, have not yet been formally identified. A post-mortem examination is expected to confirm if the body belongs to 37-year-old Khaled Malas.

Mr. Malas had been missing since the incident at a property in Wildwood, where he was allegedly shot in the torso following a dispute involving a debt. Police previously identified 56-year-old Mohammed Aboueid as the alleged shooter. Mr. Aboueid was captured on CCTV in the Greenvale area and has been charged with intentionally causing serious injury.

Authorities stated that the charges against Mr. Aboueid will be reviewed following the results of the autopsy. Police believe the parties involved were known to one another.
