Body found at the foot of Pic Saint-Loup

A body was discovered at the foot of Pic Saint-Loup near Saint-Mathieu-de-Tréviers on Monday, August 17. The discovery was made by a passerby during ongoing search operations for a young man reported missing since Sunday morning.

The deceased is believed to be a 23-year-old hiker from Montpellier who had been hiking alone. Following his disappearance, authorities deployed significant resources, including a helicopter, a Malinois tracking dog, a thermal drone, and a Saint-Hubert dog. While the body has not yet been officially identified, investigators are working to confirm if it is the missing hiker.
