Body Found Near Iran's World Cup Training Site in Tijuana
Mexican authorities discovered a decomposing body in the trunk of a gray SUV with California license plates parked near the Caliente Stadium in Tijuana, the training ground for Iran’s national soccer team ahead of the 2026 World Cup. The body was wrapped in a black plastic bag and displayed clear signs of violence.
Special police units and forensic investigators secured the scene, removed the corpse and opened a criminal investigation. The vehicle is thought to have been abandoned earlier in the week. The incident occurs as Iran’s squad moves under heightened security in a city that recorded over 1,200 homicides in 2025. Iran’s football federation has not yet issued a statement.
