Body found near Port Augusta in search for missing man

Police have confirmed the discovery of a body in scrubland near Yorkeys Crossing, north of Port Augusta, during a renewed search for Joshua Demell. Demell, 39, has been missing since late January after failing to return from a motorbike ride.

The discovery was made during a targeted operation involving the Mounted Operations Unit, SES volunteers, and aerial support. While the remains were found in the same remote area where Demell's abandoned motorbike was located on January 24, authorities stated it is too early to formally confirm if the body belongs to him. Identification processes are currently underway.
