Body of 10-year-old boy found in Santa Catarina after four-day search

The body of a 10-year-old boy named Samuel was recovered in Balneário Piçarras, Santa Catarina, on Wednesday night following a four-day search operation. The child had disappeared on Sunday after being swept away by a wave near lifeguard station 7 in the Itacolomi neighborhood.

The search involved approximately 30 professionals daily, including military firefighters, community firefighters, and volunteer lifeguards. The operation utilized a wide range of resources, including drones, jet skis, inflatable boats, quadricycles, and helicopters such as Arcanjo 3 and Águia 7.

While drone operators and aircraft spotted the body late in the afternoon, the exact location was briefly lost before rescuers resumed the search at night and successfully located him an hour later. The family has since identified the body, and scientific police have been called to proceed with the necessary legal protocols.
