Body of 26‑year‑old Sergiu Found in Romania’s Olt River

A 26‑year‑old man named Sergiu, reported missing on 29 May in Râmnicu Vâlcea, was discovered dead in the Olt River on 11 June. The body was found at the Ostroveni dam, in a state of decomposition, after an extensive search involving police, a rescue vehicle, a work‑truck, a boat and an SMURD ambulance. Authorities have opened an investigation to determine the circumstances of his death and are conducting forensic examinations.

The tragic finding follows a two‑week effort by the family and law‑enforcement agencies, who were alerted when Sergiu failed to be contacted and was last seen near the intersection of I.C. Brătianu Street and Tineretului Boulevard. The family is preparing for burial while awaiting the investigation’s outcome.
